Pointwise Version 17 now is available for production use. This major release includes more than two dozen new features. The two most notable new features are the volume mesh implementation of the T-Rex hybrid meshing technique and the ability to read native CAD files.

Productivity Features
Pointwise Version 17 contains many other great features that cover the gamut from meshing tools to convenience features. Here's a partial list in no particular order.
The layer manager now lets you select a layer and have all its entities added to the current selection.
Pointwise now supports the creation of baffles in volume grids for representing thin surfaces and adding grid clustering control.
A grid spacing value can be copied from one location and pasted onto one or more other locations.
The Diagonalize command now includes options for Hiding or Deleting the original structured domain.
Graphics now can optionally be drawn in double precision in order to accurately zoom in on small features.
When journaling an interactive session to a file, the script commands also will appear in the Messages window.
The Examine U,V diagnostic provides the ability to query database entity parametric coordinates by using the Probe feature.
The Group command provides an additional organizational tool and selection capability besides Layers. You are able to Create, Edit, and Ungroup sets of entities of the same type. Groups can be used as families for CAE solvers that support this information.
The software installer has been upgraded to be consistent across all platforms and the license manager now uses a web-based dashboard.
Spacing constraints now are included in the List for tabular selection, setting and sorting.
Database boundaries now can be used for the creation of offset curves.
Generation of pyramid cells on quad domains used in an unstructured block's face now uses an algorithm similar to T-Rex in order to prevent pyramid crossing in concave regions.
Re-extrude provides a way to re-extrude previously extruded structured domains and prism and hexahedral blocks. It can be applied to single or multiple domains or blocks.
SubGrids allows the user to apply the structured grid solvers to subsets of a domain's or block's grid points. It allows very focused application of the solver on problem areas without effecting the rest of the grid and is, therefore, quite a bit faster to apply.
